Zelda Martha Coombs Coy, Oklahoma City resident, formerly of Chandler, was born on July 29, 1917, in Avery, Oklahoma, and departed this life on September 21, 2006, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 89 years. Zelda was the daughter of Leslie and Maude Baker Coombs. She went to Buttermilk Grade School and graduated Kendrick High School in 1935. She then attended Central State University in Edmond. Zelda married Sam Coy in Chandler in 1939. They owned the Dairy Freeze in Chandler for many years. After selling the Dairy Freeze, she cooked at the local nursing home until she was 74 years of age. Zelda was a member of the Laff-A-Lot Club in Kendrick and First Christian Church in Chandler. Her parents, husband, one son and one sister preceded Zelda in death. Survivors include, One Son, Gary Coy of Oklahoma City, Three daughters & sons-in-law, Sue Coy of Oklahoma City, Sharon & Roy Loy of Meeker. Martha & Bob Long of Holiday Island, AR. Four grandchildren, Scott, Michelle, Marc, and Geremy, Seven great-grandchildren, Ashlie, Alyson, Lindsey, Daxton, Shelby, Kimi and Jonathan, Two great-great-grandchildren, Emily and John E. Other relatives and many friends.
