Yvonne Lois “Vonnie” Koester long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born December 9, 1939, in Swanville, Minnesota, she departed this life on December 17, 2019, at her home in Chandler at the age of 80 years. Vonnie was the daughter of Leslie and Dorothy Smith. She was raised and attended school in Swanville, Minnesota. Vonnie met Harvey Fredrick Koester while shooting pool at a pool hall, he thought she looked like Patsy Cline, they were married shortly afterward on September 27, 1959. She worked at the Sewing Factory in Chandler for a few years, she then opened a thrift in Warrick. Vonnie was a very caring and giving person, anyone that came into her shop that had a need, she would help them even if they couldn’t pay. Vonnie was a feisty country girl who could fix anything. She loved to ride horses and fish. Vonnie will be greatly missed. Her parents, husband and sister, Joyce preceded Vonnie in death. Survivors include three children, Randy Koester and spouse Jeanne, Kim Kautzman and spouse Brent, Rex Koester and spouse Dawn; six grandchildren, Charla, Kyle, Kayla, Kash, Hollee, and Garrett; eight great-grandchildren, Harley, Charleigh, Ace, Rianne, Kambrie, Layne, JR Newt, and McKade; two sisters, Elaine Sutton and Dottie Lou Baum; one brother, Les Smith Jr.; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler with Pastor Chris Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Star Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
