Wincie Williams was born on July 12, 1921, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 11, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years. Wincie, the daughter of David and Saphrona (Nelson) Ward, was a long-time resident of Chandler. She graduated from Chandler High School in 1939. Wincie married Melvin O. Williams of Davenport, Oklahoma, on September 28, 1940. Shortly thereafter, Wincie moved with her husband to Wichita, Kansas, where both worked at jobs involved in the war effort. After the war, they moved back to Chandler and began raising a family. She was a active member of Chandler First Christian Church and various community activities. Her parents, husband, Melvin, two sisters, Alta (Ward) Young, Mary (Ward) Barron, two brothers, David Nelson Ward and William Joseph Ward preceded Wincie in death. Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law, Melvin Jr. & Sharlene Williams of Norman, Oklahoma, two daughters, Margaret Totten of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Joyce Williams of Oklahoma City, grandchildren, Ryan Totten, Courtney (Williams) Housley and husband Spencer, Matthew Williams, and David Williams; one great-grandson, Quinn Housley; two nephews, Joe Young and wife Ruth Ann, David Ward and wife Sonja, and one niece Karin Togert, other relatives and many friends. Expression of sympathy may be made to the First Christian Church, 614 Manvel Ave., Chandler, Oklahoma 74834. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 15, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Chandler, with Bill Poling and Pastor Christine Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, OK.
