Wilma Pauline (Muncy) Rogers entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2019 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born on June 1, 1926 to Taylor Bernard and Frances Ola (Davis) Muncy on the family farm in the Midway Community, seven miles north of Paden. She attended the first grade at Midway Schools, then Paden Grade School and graduated from Paden High School on May 20, 1944. While attending Paden High School, Wilma was a member of the Glee Club and the National Honor Society. Following high school, Wilma attended East Central State College for three and a half years. During World War II, Wilma worked at Douglas Aircraft (now Tinker Field) as a “Rosie the Riveter” sewing up fuselage on war planes. She then worked for at Kaiser Shipyard in Richmond, California as a machinist. She later taught school in rural Paden schools, Bethel Schools and Pettiguah School. She continued to substitute teach until 1968. In 1968, she started as clrk in the Paden Post Office and substituted at Meeker and Prague during that time. She retired from the Paden Post Office as Postmaster in 1988. Wilma was the sixth of eight children, three boys and five girls. She married Harold Rogers in Paden, Oklahoma on May 29, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2004. They had three children, Steven Harold, Jeffry David and Jennifer “Kim” Rogers. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Rogers; siblings, Bernard Elroy Muncy, Herbert “Clyde” Muncy, Raymond Earl Muncy, Lena Imogene “Jackie” McClendon and Audry “Hazel” Muncy; grandparents, Newton and Joshua Muncy and Sidney and Elizabeth Davis. Wilma is survived by her children, Steven Rogers and wife Debbie of Adair, Jeff Rogers of Paden and Jennifer “Kim” Rogers of Paden; sisters, Arleta “Maxine” Raines and Mary Elizabeth “Bettye” Robison; grandchildren, Joshua and Gina Rogers of Pryor; Amie and Cliff Orcutt of Chouteau; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, Ayden Rogers, Noel Orcutt, Brooklyn Orcutt, Quaid Orcutt, Quincy Orcutt and Isabelle. Wilma also has one great-great granddaughter on the way. Donations can be made in honor of Wilma to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. or to Gideons International at www.gideons.org Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, February 25, 2019 at 2:00PM. They will be held at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague, Oklahoma with Pastor Kevin Wehrli officiating. Graveside services will be held immediately after at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden.
