William R. ?Bill? Cato, Harrah, Oklahoma, age 85, was born August 28, 1919, in Vian, Oklahoma, and departed this life on February 24, 2005, in Vian, Oklahoma. Bill was the son of Eulas Bud & Ethel Pearl Risley Cato. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Barbara Armstrong on June 9, 1954, in Newton, KS. They moved to Harrah in 1960 and lived in the same house since 1965. For over twenty years Bill worked as a mechanic for OG&E at the Horseshoe Lake Station in Harrah, retiring on March 1, 1985. He was a member of the Harrah First Baptist Church, the VFW and the OG&E Pioneers Club. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara in 2000; one daughter, Lucinda in 1972; two sisters, Lola Mae one grandson, David Everett; one granddaughter, Sandra Lee Everett; and a double cousin who was like a brother, O.W. Cato, who also passed away the same morning as Bill. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Billy & Mary Cato, Vian, OK, Robert & Mona Cato, Wichita, KS; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Roberta Robbin & Bob Drake, Malakoff, TX, Wanda & Jerry Everett, Wichita, KS; 4 sisters, Sally McNabb, Burkburnett, TX, Peggy Turney, Tulsa, OK, Alice Miller, Kiefer, OK, Bessie Johnson, Vian, OK; nephew, Leon Davis, Burkburnett, TX; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives. Donations may be made to the William Cato Memorial Fund in care of Bancfirst, PO Box 1104, Harrah, OK 73045. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Dr. Dan Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, Oklahoma.
