William Jennings Bailey, long-time Wellston, Oklahoma, resident was born on September 14, 1908, in Wellston, Oklahoma, and departed this life on July 27, 2008, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years. William was the son of William Jackson and Florida Edison Bailey. He married Myrtle Iris Wilkins on July 1, 1928, in Chandler. William served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked many years for the Wellston Public Schools as a mechanic. William was a long-time member of the Wellston First Assembly of God Church, American Legion and was a volunteer fireman for the Wellston Fire Department. His parents, wife, two sons, four brothers and two sisters preceded William in death. Survivors include, Two Daughters & son-in-law, Eva Alene King of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Louise & Bobbie Gene Mauldin of Wellston, OK, Sister-in-law, Alma Owens of Wellston, OK, Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Wellston Cemetery, Wellston, Oklahoma, with Rev. Dewayne Settles officiating. Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
