William E. “Bill” Buoy, 90, of Shawnee, died early Monday in a Norman hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1927, in Meeker to Rome Edward and Iva Mae (Beatty) Buoy. He was raised in Meeker and graduated from Meeker High School. He was a good athlete. He was also an ordained deacon of the Meeker First Baptist Church and a life-long member of that church. Bill was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed coon and turkey hunting, fishing and traveling, and most importantly was a great father and grandfather. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He married Margie Lea VanCleave in June of 1949. She preceded him in death in August of 2006. Also preceding him in death were his mother and father, Rome Edward and Iva Mae (Beatty) Buoy, his brothers James R. Buoy and George E. Buoy; and sisters, Norma Ruth Buoy, Wanda Mae Moudy and Barba Rae Ford. Survivors include his sons William Stephen Buoy, David Alan Buoy and his wife Rita, all of Meeker; two daughters and their husbands, Regina Leann Simpson and David Simpson and Lisa LaDawn Clifton and Steve Clifton, all of Shawnee; a sister, Effie Lou (Walker) Willis, Meeker and a brother, Robert Buoy and wife, Melba of Prague. Also, grandchildren, William Michael Buoy, Misty LaDawn Scott, Stephen Matthew Buoy, Leonard Edward Buoy, William Anthony Buoy, Parker Lee Buoy, Jason Alan Buoy, Wesley Carson Buoy, Blake Allen Simpson, Jaclyn Brooke Forrester, Benjamin David Simpson, Steven Levi Clifton, Garrett Scott Clifton; and 22 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Meeker First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Brother Joe Jones, pastor of the church, Mike Massey, pastor of Shawnee Bible Church and Michael Buoy. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Park Brothers Funeral Home, Meeker. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Meeker First Baptist Church.
