Wanda Lee Mayes

Wanda Lee Mayes passed away surrounded by family on Friday, December 20th 2024 in Prague, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Wanda was born on March 27th, 1940 in Prague Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Everett and Inez (Norton) Hollon. Wanda grew up in Prague, attended Prague schools and was a 1956 graduate of Prague. Wanda married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Mayes, on October 21st, 1960 at Deer Creek Baptist Church and were married for nearly 64 years. Together, they made their home in Prague, where they raised two daughters, Regina and Sheila.

Wanda was a devoted wife and a loving mother and loved to take care of their home and all their fur babies. Once the girls were in school full time, she went to work at the Wrangler company where she worked for 13 years until she retired to help care for her grandchildren.

Wanda was a wonderful cook and loved baking and cooking delicious meals for her family and her church family gatherings. She loved working in the garden and her flower beds that she had all around the house. Her favorite past time was spending time with her husband and family. Wanda was a faithful member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne and brother William Hollon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Regina and husband Bobby Martin, Sheila and husband Thomas Krauter, all of Prague; 3 sisters Joyce Scott of Oklahoma City, Pauline Bell of Nicoma Park, Dorothy and husband Jimmy Dawkins of Midwest City; grandchildren Ryan and wife Courtney Martin, Bobby J Martin, Chase and wife Chassidy Krauter and Kelsie and husband Matthew Guy; great grandchildren Gabby, Emma, Blakley, Parker, Lanston, Cash, Baker, Ellie, Tinley, and Maverick.
