Walter Robert Snell

Walter Robert Snell, was born to Estel and Lillian Fisher Snell, in Lackland, Ohio on November 14, 1920 and passed away on March 21, 2008 at the age of 87 years, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Walter, affectionately known as 'Snapper' by his Ohio friends and family and 'Bud' by many others. He married Frankie Cora Hensley on February 11, 1943; they were married 57 years at the time of her death. He joined the United States Marine Corps on June 1, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 27, 1946. He participated in action on Okinawa and China during WWII. He and Frankie kept in Close contact with many of the men he served with and attended many reunions over the years. 'Once a Marine, always a Marine' was exemplified by this man. 'Bud' had lived in Davenport, Oklahoma the past several years and had recently moved from his home to an assisted living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He loved his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and never forgot anyone''s birthday. His nieces and nephews kept in close touch, as did many friends and relatives. He is a member of the First Christian Church in Stroud, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Frankie. Bud is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Susan Snell of Stroud, Oklahoma ; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Mike McGuigan of Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Brian and Tammy Snell of Davenport, Oklahoma Erin and Jayson Wimmer, and Kevin and Teresa McGuigan of Simi Valley, CA; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Snell and Kylie and Cole Wimmer. Memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Stroud, Oklahoma on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Paul Ragle officiating. Service are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud, Oklahoma.
