Virginia Louise Carter

June 15, 1933 — December 23, 2017

Virginia Louise Carter was born on June 15, 1933, in Seminole County, and departed this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Virginia, the daughter of John and Virginia (Green) McGehee, was a long time resident of Seminole. She married Billy Dean Carter on November 4, 1953, in Seminole. Virginia and Billy were married for nearly 62 years when he went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2015. She enjoyed playing piano, working in her garden in the summer, keeping her fireplace lit in the winter, sports (especially basketball), and traveling with Billy when they were able. Virginia was proud of owning and operating her carpet shop and wowed people as she could figure the size of a room in her head with ease. She was a phenomenal cook and drawing from her years growing up during the Depression would always make sure family and friends were well fed before they left her home. Virginia’s household was well disciplined but brimming with love as she was devoted to her family. She was a woman of faith known for her love of Jesus and prayers lifted up for her children and grandchildren. Virginia will be greatly missed but there is some comfort found in the knowledge that she was ready to join her beloved Billy in the presence of their Lord. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 sisters Vera, Violet, Veta, Verna and Verlene and two brothers Bud and Jesse. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Gen’e Carter of Prague; daughter and son-in-law Angie and Robert Young of Seminole; brother Gene McGehee of Jenks; grandchildren Brandon Underwood of Seminole, Brian Underwood of Ohio, Beau Underwood and Blake Underwood both of Seminole, Christie Cheatwood of Shawnee, Tonya Carter of Chandler, Keith Carter of Prague, Kevin Carter of Seminole and Michael Carter of Prague; a host of great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Prague Assembly of God Church with Pastor Kevin Wehrli officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
