Virginia Ruth Kitchin

Prague

Virginia "Ginger" Ruth Kitchin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home in Prague, Oklahoma, on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old.

Born on August 5, 1931, in Webb City, Oklahoma, Virginia was the daughter of a generation that cherished faith, family, and the beauty of the world around them. She lived a full and vibrant life, marked by devotion, curiosity, and an ever-present sense of love for those she held dear.

On April 1, Virginia met the love of her life, Archie Guy Kitchin. Their love story flourished, and they married on December 4,1951, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Together, they traveled the world during Archie’s service in the Air Force, and their bond grew stronger with each passing year. Archie preceded her in death, along with their daughter Jerry Kitchin, sons-in-law Tom Patten and Roy Vancuren, and grandson Shane Patten.

Virginia’s life was rich with service and joy. As a dedicated secretary, she worked with purpose and integrity. She was a devout member of her church and poured her heart into children’s ministry, touching the lives of many young souls. Her passion for genealogy brought her closer to her family, and her love of painting filled her home with beauty. Outside, she found solace in gardening and tending to her chickens. But perhaps what she cherished most was the time spent with her family—especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Her legacy lives on through her three children, Karen Patten, Doyle Kitchin, and Kathy Ring. She is survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts.

From Karen Patten, she is survived by grandchildren Todd Patten (wife, Felicia), Shauna Roberson (husband, Zach), and Amber Haggard (husband, Jonathon). Her great-grandchildren in this branch include Asher Patten, Sienna Patten, Sydney Patten, Zane Wells, Isaiah Wells, Tommy Roberson, and Lilah Roberson.

From Doyle Kitchin (wife Susan Kitchin) she is survived by grandchildren David Kitchin (wife, Abby), James Kitchin (wife, Lauren), Sarah Kitchin, Elizabeth Kraus (husband, Matthew), and great-grandchildren: Eloise Kraus, Eli Kitchin, Josiah Kitchin, Naomi Kitchin, Isa Kitchin, and Morgan Kitchin.

From Kathy Ring, she is survived by grandchildren Jeanna VanCuren (husband, Michael), Matt Sala, Jennifer Downs, Amber Ring, Great-grandchildren include Shayna Young-King(wife Bren King),Drake Yeager, Brayden Sala, Bryson Davidson, Ian Davidson, Bailey Davidson, Great-Great Grandchildren include Evelynn Young, Ashyer Young, Evyrlee King, and Hudson Sala.

Virginia’s family was the center of her world, and her love will continue to guide them. Whether playing games with her grandchildren, sharing stories of their roots, or simply offering a listening ear, she was a constant presence in their lives. Her gentle spirit and nurturing heart made her the cornerstone of their family.

In her final moments, surrounded by the love she so freely gave, Virginia passed away as she lived—surrounded by family and embraced by the deep, unwavering love that defined her.

She is now reunited with her Lord and Savior, Archie, Jerry, Tom, Roy, and Shane, and though she will be missed beyond measure, her family will carry forward her legacy of faith, love, and kindness.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Parks Funeral Home in Prague, Oklahoma at 2 PM where all are invited to remember the woman who lived so richly, loved so deeply, and gave so generously.

Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her, and her love will continue to ripple through the generations to come.
