Vernon Lee Armitage was born on August 18, 1926, in Rossville, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in Jacktown, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Lee, the son of Venis Remine and Annie Eliza (Trent) Armitage, was a resident of Jacktown. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Lee married Wilma Joyce Frost on July 7, 1949 in Meeker. He worked from 1948 to 1983 at Tinker Air Force Base in the jet engine plant service and was a farmer and rancher until retirement. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Wilma Armitage of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Martha Armitage of Claremore, Mark and Lisa Armitage of Meeker, Mitchell and LiAnn Armitage of Meeker; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Delbert Hubbell of Meeker and many other relatives and friends. The Armitage family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2011, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Donations may be made to Rossville or Jamison Cemetery Association, 337958 E. 1000 Rd., Meeker, OK 74855. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Roy Shoop officiating. Interment will follow at Jamison in McLoud. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
