Vernon Grant Shinn, Harrah, OK, age 80, was born on February 12, 1923, in Danville, Arkansas. He was the son of William Madison and Clara Bell Smith Shinn. He left this life peacefully on December 30, 2003, at his home in Harrah, OK. Vernon lost his mother at 9 years old and was on his own at a young age. He always worked hard his entire life. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Vernon served God as a pastor for many years and devoted his life to God and helping others. In later years, Vernon and Agnes donated time and energy to helping others at Luther Church of Christ Service Center. He was a carpenter, upholsterer and loved to garden, growing enough for family and friends. Vernon will be missed by his numerous friends and adoring family. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Boyde and Robert Lee; 1 sister, Lavonne Shaffer; and 1 grandson, Wayne Shinn. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Agnes Marie Gregor Shinn, Harrah, OK; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Joyce & Tommy Morton, Juanita & Russell Saar, Janette & Benny Pannell, all of Harrah, OK; 4 sons & 1 daughter-in-law, Vernon Ray Shinn, Floyd Wayne Shinn, Roy Lee Shinn, Vernon Ray Shinn, II & Christal, all of Harrah, OK; 2 brothers, Glenn Shinn, Bull Head City, AZ, and James Shinn, Long Beach, CA; 1 sister, Mae Lee Queen, Heavner, OK; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
