Verna J. Baranski Steciak, age 75, was born on October 22, 1929, in Harrah, Oklahoma and departed this life on Monday, January 24, 2005, in Harrah, Oklahoma. Verna was the daughter of Ed & Victoria Ewaniak Baranski. She attended Harrah Schools and then in 1948, married Marion Pietrowicz. He preceded her in death in 1963. In 1964, she married Jess Steciak and they spent over 30 years together until his death in 1996. She worked at TG&Y and was an assembly worker at Macklanburg Duncan for many years. She was a member of St. Teresa?s Catholic Church, Alter Society and Polish Club. She was named ?Woman of Achievement? by the church for her countless hours of volunteer work. She spent many hours baking, making homemade crafts, crocheting afghans, making quilts and would donate them to the various organizations of the church for raffles, bazaars, dinners and bake sales. She also spent many hours donating her time to preparing refreshments, selling tickets, decorating and organizing workers for various fund raising events. Verna spent many hours volunteering at the Harrah Senior Citizen Center and she enjoyed making quilts with many of the quilters at the Center. She also loved to play dominoes. Verna was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands. Survivors include 1 sister & brother-in-law, Rose Marie & James Snavely, Ft. Mohave, AZ; a very dear and close companion, George Caldwell, Harrah, OK; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank dear friends, Karen Thompson and Jodi Steciak for all the time you spent with Verna at the nursing home, and all they did for her. The Rosary service will be held at 9:40 A.M. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 27, 2005, at St. Teresa?s Catholic Church, Harrah, OK, with Father Alan Loth officiating. Interment will follow at St. Teresa?s Catholic Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
