'. Verna Faye Mattocks Pearson, 73 year old Higgins, Texas resident, died June 20, 2008 at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. Services will be Monday, June 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel at Chandler, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Osage, Agra, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler. . Verna Faye Mattocks was born on June 24, 1934 at Mansfield, Missouri to Bert Leroy and Zelma May. Bloom Mattocks. The family moved to Agra, Oklahoma when Verna was a child. She graduated from Agra High School, where she played basketball and other sports. In 1952 Verna was united in marriage to James Royce 'Curley' Pearson. To this union two sons, Randy and Ricky were born. The family lived innumerous communities in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas where- ever. Curley''s work in the oil patch might take them. Verna did nursing care and her last employment was at Tinker Air Force Base, where she worked in the commissary. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and in her free time she enjoyed crocheting and buying items on the QVC television. Verna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two sons & daughters-in-law, Randy & Teresa Pearson of Covington, Oklahoma and Ricky & Shantel of Higgins, Texas; two brothers & sisters-in-law, H.K. & Marge Mattocks and Leonard & JoAnn Mattocks all of Del City, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Reynolds also of Del City; four grandsons and four grand daughters; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
