Verdie Shirl Starling

Verdie Shirl Starling, long-time Carney, Oklahoma, resident was born on September 17, 1914, in Donavan, Missouri, and departed this life on July 10, 2008, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. Verdie was the daughter of Enoch and Martha Gazaway Gaither. She married Earl Starling in Tryon, Oklahoma, in 1932. She was a homemaker and member of the First Assembly of God Church in Tryon. Her parents, husband, one son, Roy; one daughter, Lola Mae Martin; four brothers and one sister preceded Verdie in death. Survivors include, Three sons, Lorn Starling of Carney, OK, Don Starling of Carney, OK, Glen Starling of Oklahoma City, OK, 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren, 7 Great-great-grandchildren, Other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2008, at First Assembly of God Church in Tryon, Oklahoma, with Rev. J.C. Walker and Rev. Jerry Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Carney Cemetery, Carney, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
