Vera Belford Newton was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on June 7, 1914 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the age of 96 years. Vera was the daughter of Roy and Sylva (Rose) Belford. She was a resident of Stroud most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stroud, Oklahoma and was a School Teacher in Stroud for 38 years. Vera married Stanley Charles Newton in Neosho, MO on December 15, 1940. He preceded her in death in September 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Roy Carl Belford, 1 granddaughter, Jessica. Survivors include, Two Sons & daughter in laws:Stanley David & Becky Newton of Oklahoma City, OK, Phillip Charles & Norma Newton of Edmond, OK, One Brother & Sister in Law, Earl & Lois Belford of Lake Kiowa, TX, Brother in Law, Dwight Newton & wife Ruth of Springfield, MO, Two Sisters in Laws, Maxine Belford of Okmulgee, OK, Lou Venia Waddell of Willard, MO, Two Grandchildren, Sarah Newton of Springfield, MO, Christine Colvert of Enid, OK, One Great Granddaughter, Hattie Colvert of Enid, OK, Host of Nieces and Nephews, Other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be at the Beggs Cemetery, Beggs, Oklahoma on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Davie Hodge officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud, Oklahoma.
