Velma Fleming

Velma Myers Fleming was born on January 2, 1923, in Chandler, OK, and departed this life on Thursday, November 17, 2011, in Edmond, OK, at the age of 88 years. Velma, the daughter of Samuel and Almina (Kapelle) Myers, was a resident of Edmond, formerly of Stillwater, OK. She graduated from Chandler High School in 1941. Velma married Aubrey Fleming in November, 1941. Velma was a homemaker and a member of the Stillwater First Baptist Church having taught Sunday School for many years. Her parents, husband, two brothers Lysle and Newman and one sister Maurine, one daughter-in-law, Patricia, and grandson Roger Jones preceded Velma in death. Survivors include, one son Eldon Fleming of Chickasha, OK, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Charles Jones of Edmond, grandchildren, Donald and Jennifer Fleming of Chickasha, OK, Jonathan and Valerie Jones of Colorado, James and Ashley Jones of Edmond, and three great-granddaughters, Susanna, Rachel and Erin Jones, two great-grandsons Jeremiah and Joshua Jones, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2011, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, OK.
