Velma Ann Thornton

Velma Ann Thornton, Chandler, Oklahoma resident, was born on October 8, 1919, in Stroud, Oklahoma, and departed this life on January 23, 2003, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years. Velma was the daughter of Arch and Minnie Viola Waters Crouch. She was a 1937 graduate of the Davenport High School. Velma married Henry Thornton on November 10, 1938, in Oklahoma. She worked as a Health Care Provider and was a member of the Chandler Southern Baptist Church in Chandler, Oklahoma. Her parents, husband, one son, and five brothers preceded Velma in death. Survivors include: One son & daughter-in-law: Dennis & Mary Ann Thornton of Sapulpa, OK; One daughter: Ruth Tate of Okay, OK; One brother Garlin Crouch of Illinois; One sister: Violet Leach of Tryon, OK; 5 Grandchildren;14 Great Grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Chandler Southern Baptist Church in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial will follow in the New Zion Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler, Oklahoma.
