Vancy H. Whitlock

Vancy H. Whitlock, a Meeker, Oklahoma, resident, was born on December 26, 1909, in Harrison, Arkansas, and departed this life on July 15, 2004, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years. Vancy was the daughter of Jacob Samuel and Mary Louisa Cantrell Honeycutt. She was a homemaker. Vancy was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Meeker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. On April 23, 1933 she and Curtis Whitlock were married in Choctaw, Oklahoma. They celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. In their early years Curtis was a heavy equipment operator on two large dam projects in the northwestern United States and later on several major road projects in Oklahoma. He then became an engineer for the MKT Railroad and resided in Parsons, Kansas. They were members of a model train club and delighted in demonstrating the layouts for their grand nieces, nephews and other children. She also loved working in her yard and flower gardens. Upon retirement they moved to near Prue on Lake Keystone and later to Meeker. Vancy was predeceased by her parents; her husband; brothers, Alfred, Louis and Jess; sisters, Myrtle Haun and Virgie Armitage. A nephew, Philip Honeycutt of Van Buren, Arkansas and nieces, Betty Armitage Wiley of Meeker, Oklahoma and Barbara Honeycutt Terry of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and several grand nieces and nephews survive her. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 19, 2004, at the New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler, Oklahoma. Mrs. Whitlock may be viewed at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker, Oklahoma.
