Troy Bishop

June 3, 1921 — May 24, 2011

Troy Orval Bishop was born on June 3, 1921, in Meeker, OK, and departed this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, in Norman, OK, at the age of 89 years. Troy, the son of Claude and Sarah Bishop, was a long-time resident of Chandler, living most of his life on a farm south of town. He graduated from Chandler High School and Oklahoma State University. Troy Married Virginia Lee Gillaspy on August 22, 1942. He served in the United States Army during WWII as an Infantry Captain. Troy achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel with the 95th Infantry Division Army Reserve, in Stillwater, OK. He was a long-time rancher and retired as the Manager of Chandler Production Credit, where he made agricultural loans to Farmers and Ranchers in six counties across OK. Troy also taught veterans about agriculture as part of a Veterans Training Program. His parents, wife, and one sister, Helen Killough, preceded Troy in death. Survivors include, son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Jonnie Bishop of Chandler, grandchildren, Wallecia Bishop, Teresa Cudd and Gary W. Bishop, great grandchildren, Tatum Cudd, and Gavin Bishop, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 2:00 PM., at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks, OK. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
