Tom Hammock was born in Wink, Texas on August 14, 1936 to parents Victor Hammock and Ada Douglas. Tom passed away on October 19, 2021 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Tom grew up in Oilton, Oklahoma where he graduated from Oilton High School in May 1956. That following Monday after his graduation he went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas where he worked for the next 40 years. Tom married Sammie Donnelly of Cleveland, Oklahoma on March 1, 1956. Tom and Sammie were married for 50 years before Sammie’s passing in May of 2009. Tom worked in and around the Tulsa area early in his career but moved to Stroud, Oklahoma in January 1973, where he worked and raised his family until his retirement from ONG in January 1996. Tom enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. In his early years he enjoyed painting cars and houses and as his family grew he enjoyed camping with family and friends. Later in life, Tom began to enjoy woodworking, working in his yard and riding his golf cart around the neighborhood. Tom was also an active member of the community. He was boy scout leader, served as Stroud school board president and member, member of Stroud Lion’s Club, and an active member of the Stroud United Methodist Church, as well as many other civic duties. Tom was quick to share his thoughts or opinions with others, but always willing to help out a friend or neighbor in need without hesitation. He was dependable, friendly, and never met a stranger. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Sammie Hammock, father Victor Hammock, mother Ada Douglas, brother Jack Hammock, and sister Barbara Brogan. Tom is survived by his son Mike Hammock and wife Kristie of Chandler, Oklahoma, daughter Mandy Davies and husband Shawn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Justin Hammock and wife Rachel of Davenport, Oklahoma, Emily and Ethan Wells of Broken Arrow and great-grandchildren Gavin and Harper-Jo Hammock. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Mitchell officiating.
