Tipton Massie

Tipton Yukon Massie was born on October 12, 1922, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Shawnee, OK, at the age of 86. Tipton, the son of Andrew Jackson and Elva Lucille Maples Massie, was a long time resident of Chandler. He married Erma Jewell Ohmert at Davenport, Oklahoma on January 14, 1942. To this union three children were born, Frida, Wayne and Kirk. Tipton served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was stationed at DeRidder La. before leaving for the Behren Islands. At the end of the war he retuned to being a farmer, rancher and dairyman. His parents, one brother, Ulys, and one son preceded Tipton in death. Survivors include wife Jewell of the home, one son Wayne Massie of Chandler, OK. One daughter Freida McKey of Shawnee, OK. 8 Grandchildren, 19 Great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 2:00 P.M.at the First Nazarene Church in Chandler with Pastor Keith Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, OK. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
