Timothy Lewis Waldrop

February 15, 1961 — January 2, 2019

On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, after a long, hard battle with cancer, Tim Waldrop loaded his boat on the trailer for the last time. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Timothy Lewis Waldrop was born in Shawnee on February 15, 1961, to Greer Bergen “Jack” and Ruby Waldrop (ne Dunbar). The youngest of three, Tim was raised in an environment of love and values that shaped him into a man of the highest integrity, humility, and selflessness. On August 17, 1979, he married Christy Mangus (Palmer). Six months later to the day and two days after his 19th birthday, their first son, Matthew Ryan, was born. Tim grabbed the reins of responsibility and provided a home filled with immeasurable and unconditional love and support. On October 6, 1982 (opening day of deer season), his clone (in looks and personality), Douglas Kirk, was born. Tim doted on his children. Not only was he a great father, but he was an even greater (the greatest) dad who perfectly balanced being a responsible parent with being a big kid. Sometime it was as though Christy had three kids, as Tim was as eager to play with the boys as they were to play with him. These traits carried over to his beloved grandchildren with whom he fought so hard to spend as much time as possible – Allyson, Gavin, Degan, Thomas (Cooper), Mia (Yarbrough), and Allie Mayfield. Tim’s hobbies came second only to his family. Tim was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all-around outdoorsman. Many game met their demise and many bass suffered sore lips by his hand. Through these hobbies, Tim formed the strongest bonds of friendship that lasted literally until his last day. Included amongst these lucky individuals are Mike Cline, Jerry Cosper, Jay Stewart, Randy Sebring, Chet Hendershot, Kevin Hutchison, Daryl Fowler, Faron Johnson, Alan Black, Robert Gear, Tracy Climer, Mark Craig, and Bruce Hardin. Tim worked for Eaton Corporation for 34 years. It was here that he met and began his passionate relationship with Dianna Mayfield in 2014. Dianna reflected Tim’s best traits, and added a little needed patience. Shortly thereafter, Tim’s health began declining and, though he tried to spare Dianna the pain and hardship of his battle, she stubbornly and lovingly remained by his side to the end. Preceding him in death were his parents – Jack and Ruby, his friend, Bruce Hardin, and many other family members and friends. Those left to pick up the pieces and figure out how to continue without him include Dianna Mayfield and her wonderful loving family; sister (and rock) Janie and her husband, John Oliver; sister Kay Mitchell; son Matt and Tonia Megehee; son Doug and his wife, Ambrosia; the aforementioned grandkids and friends; and many other family members and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019, at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague with Pastor Tim Emmons officiating the service.
