Thomas G. 'Tom' Knight was born on April 22, 1945, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at his home in Chandler, Oklahoma, at the age of 65 years. Tom, the son of Al “Jiggs” and Betty (Whitcraft) Knight, was a long-time resident of Chandler. He started in the funeral business at the age of 13 working for his father at the Knight Funeral Home in Maud. Tom graduated from Maud High School in 1964 and attended Seminole Jr. College where he served two years as class president. He also attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Following his graduation from the Dallas Institute, he became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer on April 19, 1972, and maintained active licensure since that time. He married Emily Fruge, on August 6, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tom served the Chandler and Stroud area for 40 years, first as a funeral director with Curry Funeral Home in Stroud and for the past 25 years as the managing director of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler. Tom was a Chandler town councilman for 13 years, and, at the time of his death, was serving his second term as mayor of the town he loved dearly. His parents and one son, Chad, preceded Tom in death. Survivors include, his wife of 44 years, Emily of the home, one son, Warren Scott Knight of Los Angles, CA, one brother & sister-in-law, Warren & Louise Knight of Bazoria, TX, 4 grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Meridian, Suite 501, Oklahoma City, OK 73120 Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
