Thelma Marie Dawson was born on September 29, 1914, in Paden, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in Paden, at the age of 102. Thelma, the daughter of George W. and Bettie Evon (Jones) Rogers, was a lifelong resident of Paden. She married Frank Dawson on April 3, 1932, in Paden, enjoying 63 years together. Thelma had four children, three of whom died in infancy. Thelma lived a rich and fulfilling life; during World War II she and Frank ran the Paden Caf, and she spent many seasons in Bakersfield, CA picking cotton and fruit. She was a devoted homemaker and a faithful member of Paden Holiness Church. She loved flying to San Francisco, quilting, working puzzles, and visiting with friends and family. Thelma’s parents; husband; one son and two daughters; two brothers, Lester Rogers and Harold Rogers; and five sisters, Emma Van Zant, Vera Gilbert, Inez Cole, Georgia May Purdue and Betty Lou Grubb preceded her in death. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Floy “Corky” and Gail Dawson of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Russell Dawson of Calistoga, CA, Ginger Goddard and husband, Paul, of Norman; great grandchildren, Elaine Goddard of San Francisco, CA, Collin Dawson and wife, Randi, of San Diego, CA and Brandon Dawson, of Middletown, CA; sister-in-law, Wilma Rogers of Paden and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The Dawson family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church in Paden with Brother Bryan Logan officiating. Interment will follow at Paden Cemetery.
