Thelma Lena Pruett

Thelma Lena Pruett was born to Sallie and Henry Brauer on April 24, 1928 on the family farm near Paden, Oklahoma. She passed into the arms of Jesus on June 19, 2017 at her home in Prague, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from high school she attended Draughon Business School and began working for Southwestern States Telephone Company. She met the love of her life, Sherman Pruett while he was on leave from the service and they married on September 18, 1949 and settled in Prague. She continued working until her twin daughters were born and they later welcomed a son. She later worked as the secretary at the Prague United Methodist Church and was also a teller at BancFirst where she made many friends before retiring in 2000. After retirement she volunteered at the Prague Historical Society and enjoyed her friendships made through PEO, chapter AF. Mostly, she loved being a farm wife, mother and grandmother as well as being devoted to her church and its many activities through the years. She was also involved with her children’s school and church activities. Their school and church friends were treated as her own family. She cherished her many friends in the Prague community and those she and Dad met through their travels. Her husband, parents, siblings and many other family members preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Eileen Ogilvie and husband Tim, and Darlene Dooner and husband Tom of Edmond, Oklahoma and son, James Pruett and wife Melinda of Prague. Additionally, her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Dooner, Molly and Seth Pruett, Colin Ogilvie and wife Mary, Jay Dooner and wife Trisha and children Kaylie, Brenden and Rylan, as well as Michelle Dooner will all miss her hugs and unconditional love. She also leaves behind special nieces and nephews and other family members. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague, Oklahoma. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Prague United Methodist Church on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 1:30 PM followed by a reception. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service. Family requests memorial donations may be made to the Prague Historical Society or the Prague United Methodist Church.
