Thelma Lorene Holman was born on November 6, 1918, in Perkins, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, December 2, 2011, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 93. Thelma, the daughter of Roscoe and Effie Lorene (Clarke) Emmerson, was a long-time resident of Paden. She graduated from High School in Perkins, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma A & M College, now known as Oklahoma State University, where she worked toward her degree in Home Economics. She was a former employee of the Payne County Treasurers Office in Stillwater. She married Joe Wayne Holman on November 26, 1947 in Perkins. He preceded her in death in March of 2000. Thelma was a long-time member of the Paden Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 25 years, was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, and was a substitute teacher in the Paden Schools for many years. She loved baking pastries (her pecan pies were legendary) and was a voracious reader. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Survivors include: Sons and daughters-in-law: Ken and Dorothy Holman of Paden Robert and Barbara Holman of Prague Sister: Naomi Laverne Abernathy of Pittsburg, TX Six Grandchildren:Alex Holman, Lyle Holman, Michel Holman, Tyler Holman, Brinae Holman, Lana Rainwater and her husband Robbie, Joseph Holman and his wife Lindsay, Two Great GrandchildrenGrace and Hailey Rainwater Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at the United Methodist Church in Prague with Rev. Scott Keneda officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
