The Seasons of Life for Terry Wardell Lewis “Doc” “To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A TIME TO BE BORN: The third of four children born to William and Mayetta Hardimon Lewis, Terry Wardell Lewis entered the world on December 13, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A TIME TO WORSHIP: Terry confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized into the Body of Christ on March 31, 1968 at the Mt. Olive Friendship Baptist Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He later joined and became an active member of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A TIME TO LOVE: Terry met Janice Simmons in 2000, while at Hamilton House in San Antonio, Texas. They began dating in 2001 and were married in 2006. They enjoyed 17 happy years together and were married for 12 of those years. A TIME TO LEARN: He attended public school in Guthrie, where he was a member of the JROTC and the basketball team. He graduated from Guthrie High School on May 23, 1977. Later, he attended and graduated from the Francis Tuttle Technology Center Culinary Arts Program on May 13, 1993. He also received several certifications in his profession. A TIME OF WAR: After graduating from high school, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed at U.S. Army Garrison Heidelberg, Heidelberg Germany. He also served at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1983, after serving six years in the military. A TIME TO SOW: When he returned home from the military, he began working at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. In 2005, he began working at Oklahoma Baptist University as the Executive Chef. After twelve years he retired. A TIME TO DIE: Monday, January 28, 2019, Terry transitioned from mortality to immortality; from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his loving father in 2002. A TIME TO MOURN: In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Janice, Terry leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, children, Amber Beach (Zachery) of Las Vegas, Astra Spanbauer (Bobby) of Shawnee, Tiarra Jenkins of Shawnee, Xavier Lewis of Oklahoma City, Braunya Lewis of Shawnee and Jailee Lewis of Shawnee; grandchildren, Avery Holmes of Shawnee, Lux Beach of Las Vegas, Asher Spanbauer of Shawnee and Genesis Westbrook of Shawnee; his Mother, Mayetta Love and stepfather, Alvin Love of Guthrie; one sister, Deirdra Stevenson of Guthrie; two brothers, Tony Lewis of Edmond and William Lewis Jr of San Antonio; mother-in-law, Gail Rittimann of San Antonio, father-in-law, Donald Rittimann of San Antonio, two sisters-in-law, Latriacia James of San Antonio and Shanell Simmons of San Antonio. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. An online guestbook is available at www.parksbrothers.net.
