Terry Clifford Mchughes

Terry Clifford McHughes passed away at his home in Cary, North Carolina on May 2, 2015. Terry was born on July 28, 1954, in Norman, Oklahoma to A.C. and Bobbie (DeArman) McHughes. Beginning in high school, he worked as a meat cutter alongside his father in the family’s grocery store, McHughes Food Center. He graduated from Norman High School in 1972 and continued working in the grocery business. For the last 25 years of his life, he worked for Sam’s Club as a supervisor in Florida and North Carolina. Terry married Catherine Miraldi in 1980. He was blessed with three daughters, Tara, Kelli, and Malena, whom he loved dearly. A native Normanite, Terry was truly “Sooner born and Sooner bred.” He was an avid OU fan and some of his favorite trips centered on traveling to see football games with his family. In most pictures of him, Terry can be seen wearing one of his many OU shirts. When the Thunder came to Oklahoma City, he became an enthusiastic fan of that team as well. Along with his love for OU football, Terry was a huge music fan. He and Katie, and later Malena, traveled far and wide to see their favorite bands in concert. Terry relaxed by going fishing, playing with his two beloved rescue dogs and babysitting his grand-dogs. Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents, D and Eva DeArman and John and Willis McHughes. Terry is survived by his wife, Katie of the home; parents, A.C. and Bobbie McHughes of Norman; daughter, Tara Rose and husband, Mick of Edmond; daughter, Kelli Harvie of Tulsa; daughter, Malena McHughes of Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Joey and Jeffrey Harvie; sister, DeAnn Pollard and husband, Bill of Norman; sister-in-law, Alice Patzack and husband, Russell of Yukon; brothers-in-law, David Miraldi and wife, Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA and Tony Miraldi and wife, Shirley of Knoxville, TN; niece, DeNara Hill of Moore; nephew, Brad Hill and wife, Carla of Edmond and many other family and friends. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations in Terry’s name to Rob’s Ranch, P.O. Box 628, Purcell, OK 73080. The McHughes family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2015, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Primrose Funeral Home in Norman. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman with Pastor Jim Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
