Ted Monroe Capron

August 5, 1937 — September 27, 2024

Ted Monroe Capron was born August 5, 1937 to Reese Monroe Capron and Louise Helen (Nau) Capron of Tryon, Oklahoma. His mother’s nickname was Teddy and his father’s middle name was Monroe, so Ted’s name honored both of his parents. His preschool years were spent in Tryon, OK, his school days in Edmond. Ted graduated from Oklahoma State University Technical College of Okmulgee and immediately started work as a mechanic with Dowell, later known as Dowell/Schlumberger. He retired from the oil field company after twenty-seven years of service.

From eleven years of age, Ted also worked on the family farm, six miles east of Edmond Oklahoma, until the Corps of Engineers took the farm by eminent domain for Lake Arcadia in 1981. The family then purchased a new farm a couple of miles southwest of Prague, Oklahoma. Regrettably, Ted’s father passed away six weeks after the move, but his mother lived another twenty years. Ted worked on the farm with his brother, Reese Edward Capron, until ill health prevented Ted from doing so. In spite of his decreasing ability, Ted continued living in his farm home until his passing.

Ted was a member of the United Methodist Church in Prague and was active in the United Methodist Men’s group for a few years. He never married nor had expensive hobbies of any kind. After his oil field retirement, his focus was always on farming. His greatest entertainment was local to state-wide stock shows and television sports and westerns. Ted was a kind and generous man, very giving to his church, various charities, and especially his nieces and nephews’ weddings and to those of the next generation as well!

Ted is survived by his sister-in-law, Sharon Capron, three nephews, Alex & DeeAnn Capron of Prague, Eric & Heather Capron of Prague, and Mark & Rene’ Capron of Tulsa and two nieces, Bari Michelle & Brad Trost of Rexburg, Idaho and Jennifer & Robert Levins of Lawrence, Kansas. He also has fifteen grandnephews/nieces and an ever-increasing number of great-grands. Ted will not be forgotten.
