Shirley Charlene (Schornick) Wiseman

Shirley Charlene Wiseman was born on April 30, 1944, in Ada, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, October 12, 2012, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Charlene, the daughter of Herbert Walter and Johnnie Mozelle (Gunter) Schornick, was a resident of Prague. Charlene graduated from Byng High School with the class of 1962. While in high school, Charlene received the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award and played basketball for the legendary Bertha Frank Teague. She graduated from St. Anthony School of nursing as an LPN, graduated from East Central University in 1977 with a Bachelor's in Education, and then obtained a Master's Degree in Education from ECU. She married Dr. Carl D. Wiseman on December 29, 1979 in Gainesville, Texas. He preceded Charlene in death on June 14, 2000. Charlene was a long-time member of the Prague First Baptist Church. She taught in the Prague Schools for 34 years and in 1985 was a semi-finalist for 'Teacher in Space.' Charlene impacted many young lives during her teaching career. Her parents and sister, Jan Sturdevant, also preceded her in death. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kim Wiseman of Prague; step-daughters, Linda Denmark and her husband Scott of Ohio, Debi Sferrazza and her husband Marty of New Hampshire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Judy Schornick of Norman, David and Betty Schornick of Poccasset; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dale Cox of Ada; brother-in-law, Billy Sturdevant of Ada; and grandchildren, Jacob and Steven Collar, Victoria and Noah Sferrazza, Alexis Wiseman. The Wiseman family will receive friends on Thursday evening, October 18, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Mike Matlock and Rev. Starland Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
