Sherman Calven Clonts was born on October 2, 1925, in Milfay, Oklahoma (the Depew area), and departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Paden, Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Sherman, the son of William Leslie and Hannah (Beck) Clonts, was a resident of Paden. Sherman married Margrett Lamer Brown on December 28, 1953. Sherman proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from December 11, 1943 until April 20, 1946. He worked at McClellan Air Force Base for 10 years, then as a machinist at Tinker Field for many years. Sherman was an Okfuskee County sheriff's deputy for ten years, was a member of Prague First Assembly of God Church for 48 years, and he was a member of the VFW. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, William Lesley Clonts and Hannah (Beck) Clonts; three brothers, Lester Lee Clonts, Clarence Clonts, and Troy Clonts; one sister, Izetta Clonts Ford; two grandchildren Cheryl Gammill Griffith, and Edward Dale Musgrove. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margrett, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Andrew and Vicky Gammill of Tulsa, and Calvin 'Wayne' and Debbie Clonts of Paden; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie 'Mae' and Bud McNulty of Madill, OK, Eunice 'Faye' and Floyd Bryant of Paden and Margrett 'Gail' and Craig Fipps of Prague; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren; one sister, Lillie Loretta Morris of Marysville, California; numerous other family and friends. The Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 10 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM, at the First Assembly of God Church in Prague with Bro. Kevin Wehrli officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery.
