Sharon Kay Taylor, a caring wife, mother, and grandmother, departed this life to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the age of 77. Her infectious smile, warm chocolate chip cookies, and chicken noodle soup will be sorely missed. The daughter of CM and Ruth Bucknum, Sharon graduated Chandler High in 1961 and then achieved a secretarial administration degree from Oklahoma State University. She met Michael J. Taylor at OSU (Go Pokes!), and they married in 1964. She worked many years as a secretary before beginning a career in education where she worked for the Tulsa Public School System and later the Katy Independent School System as the counselor secretary at West Memorial Junior High. Sharon was a devoted Disciple of Christ and liked playing piano, gardening, crafting, reading, and traveling with Mike. She loved working with children, spending many years as a scouting and PTA volunteer, and was particularly fond of the students who’d stop by her office to visit. However, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; her unbounded joy for them will live on in our hearts. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Vicki. She is survived by her husband, Michael; four children, Scott, Kathy, Piper, and Gregg; and eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Maddy, Olivia, Victoria, Abby, Maya, Kaitlyn, and Alex. A graveside service will be held at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 28 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to be made in Sharon’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
