Shannon "Niki" States

"Niki" States, 42, of Prague, OK passed away on November 1st, 2021 after a sudden rupture of the esophagus. "Niki" was born on July 27th, 1979 to Robert Wayne Matthews and Mary Lou Foster in Shawnee, OK. After graduating from Dale High in 1997, she went on to practice welding at Vo-tech, as well as a few years in online college. After graduation, "Niki" started making a family of her own. Soon, came her first two children, Carly and Colton Pryor who were just 20 months apart. A lovely start, earlier in life. Then came her surprise child, Ocean McAlester, about 10 years later- completely unexpected, but always loved. Finally, she settled down with her other half, her husband, Kevin States, who added two new additions to her family, her step-daughters: Dacey and Elocin States. It was safe to say that she brought in lots of love into this world and was well loved in return. "Niki" was a fantastic wife, mother, sister, and daughter, who excelled at bringing a smile to the face of the family and friends around her. She was never afraid to put her all in assisting others but would never ask for anything in return. Though she had some personal issues, she would not let that discourage her in doing her. Niki was passionate about both cooking and gardening. When she wasn't filling her home with warmth and kindness- though her gardening endeavors did not always produce the desired results. She could be constantly found in the kitchen practicing a recipe or with her bare feet in the dirt. We will miss her greatly. "Niki" was predeceased by her father, Robert Wayne Matthews, step-father, Jimmy Don Foster and step-sister, Kathy Rosamond. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Foster, sisters, Shelly Dill, Sandra Jackson, adoptive sister: Naomi Green, brother, Robert (Bob) Matthews, step-mother, Karla Matthews, step-brother, Jeff Rosamond, step-sisters: Rebecca Davis, Sara Foster Lattie, step brother: Richard Foster, husband: Kevin States, daughter: Carly Pryor, sons: Colton Pryor and Ocean McAlester, and her step-daughters: Elocin and Dacey States.
