Seleta LaGrace Heard, a lifelong resident of Paden, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2024 in Paden Oklahoma at the age of 90. Seleta LaGrace Collins was born January 3, 1934 in Paden and was the daughter of Edd and Sylvia (Morelock) Collins. Seleta married Ivan Clarence Heard on June 14, 1949 and they made their home north of Paden where they raised four children: Ray, Carol, Dale and Rhonda.
Seleta had a green thumb and could nurture anything into growing: vegetables, wild flowers, and trees dug up beside the road. She dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting her husband on their farm. Family was very important to Seleta and she worked hard to ensure they stayed together. She would pick pecans until her fingers were numb from the wet and cold to ensure her children had a good Christmas. Seleta was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious fried chicken. Her home was always open to anyone who happened to stop by. She and her family often visited other families and the adults would play dominoes. Seleta, Clarence and her family attended the Burnett Mission Holiness Church where Clarence served as Deacon for many years.
Seleta was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 73 years, Ivan Clarence Heard; her infant daughter Deborah Ann Heard; one sister, Vella Joyce Cheatwood and six brothers, Winford Collins, Chock Collins, Bob Collins, Dean Collins, Maxwell Dee Collins and Cecil Collins.
Those left to cherish her memory are: two daughters, Carol Heard of the home and Rhonda Bartos and her husband Tony of Paden; two sons, Ray Heard and his wife Linnie of Kellyville and Dale Heard of Paden; two sisters, Wilma Watts of Paden and Anita Smith of Prague; seven grandchildren, Calvin Heard and his wife Melissa of Bristow, Reba King and her husband Dale of Kellyville, Trina Brown and her husband Michael of Paden, Lynn Williams and her husband Nathan of Prague, Justine Curry and her husband Jason of Paden, Leslie Martin and her husband Daniel of Paden, and Nick Bartos and his wife Brittany of Paden; twelve great-grandchildren, Michelle, Tiffany, Weston, Shanna, Cheryl, Rylie, Aiden, Colton, Morgan, Kade, Cayenne and Haylee; nine great-great-grandchildren, Cameron, Raelissa, Taylor, Miranda, Stetson, Wyatt, Jessie, Clayton and Liam; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
