Sammie Lee Mcginnis

Sammie Lee McGinnis was born on July 28, 1929, in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2015, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Sam, the son of Claud Albert and Beulah (Cleere) McGinnis, was a resident of Prague. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He married Betty June Wallis on January 14, 1955, in Prague. He worked as a buyer for Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1985. His parents, brothers, Buck, John, Richard and Pat McGinnis, sister, Willa Lou Jones Guinn, and son-in-law, Mike Nichols, preceded Sam in death. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty June McGinnis of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and Kae McGinnis of Shawnee, Randal McGinnis of Prague, and Tommy and Liz McGinnis of Prague; daughters, Donna Nichols of Prague, and Diana Mayfield of Prague; sister, Nancy Traywick of Poteau; sisters-in-law, Marclyn McGinnis of Prague, and Imogene McGinnis of Spiro; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
