Ruth Vay Raines Vancuren

Ruth Vay Raines VanCuren was born Sept. 4, 1924 in what is now the Ghost Town of Keokuk Falls, Ok, south of Prague. She attended Centerview School on Highway 99 and Moccasin Trail Road. Her parents were Paul Marvin Raines and Sophia Manley Raines. In 1942 she married William Allen VanCuren and they moved to Oklahoma City. She became a bookkeeper for their trucking business, Van's Cartage Company. She attended Southside Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City for many years and later was a founding member of Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene in McLoud, Oklahoma. She is survived by two daughters, Joann Bell, Harrah; Jan Payne (Joe Don) of Harrah; Grandsons Marc Bell, Christopher Payne, Jason Bell (Crystal) and Granddaughters Brandi Bell and Tia Queen - all of the Harrah/McLoud area. She was very proud to have eight great-grandsons - Chrystian, Ethan, Braden, Carson, Kadyn, Heston, Ashten and Tyler. All eight will be honoring their Great Grandmother by being Pall Bearers. She has two great granddaughters, Britney (Kevin) and Shianne. Adding to her happiness were the births of two beautiful great-great granddaughters, Addison and Kyra. She always said a prayer for each of them every night, calling them all by name. She is also survived by two very special sisters-in-laws, Pat VanCuren Vangilder of Harrah and Maxine Raines of Paden. She had many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband in '82, an infant daughter (Janie Lou) and her first grandson (Jeff). She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings: Ruby Raines, A.G Raines of Keokuk Falls., Floyd Raines of Paden, Dale Raines, Oklahoma City, John Raines of Prague and Paulyne Raines Gibbs (James) of Bogata, Texas.
