Ruth Pauline (Collins) Halsted

Ruth Pauline (Collins) Halsted was born in Berryville, Arkansas on February 21, 1908 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the age of 105 years. Ruth was the daughter of Daniel Bowen and Minnie Ertle (Wood) Collins. Ruth was a resident of Stroud since 1973. Ruth graduated from Stroud Hight School in 1927. She was member of the First United Methodist Church in Stroud, Quilting Ladies Club, loved the Stroud Library and work for the FDIC in Washington DC. Ruth married David Brackett Halstet in Washington DC on October 3, 1947. David preceded her in death March 1, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ed, Leslie and Dale, two sisters, Ester Hubble and Virgil McGrew. Survivors include, one brother, Harlan Collins of Hilton; one sister & brother in law, Marian & John Horn of Stroud; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ashley Green-Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
