Ruth Laverne Miller (nee Mann) passed on January 23, 2014 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Ruth was born on August 10, 1927 in New Albany, Indiana to Gainel Amelia (Leach) and Lawrence Gale Mann. She was the youngest of seven with siblings Ethel Louise Gautz; Ronald, Charles, Louis, and Lawrence J. Mann; and Dorothy Gibson. Ruth graduated from New Albany High School. On December 15, 1941 at Howard Park Christian Church in Clarksville, Indian, she married Warren Leroy Miller. Mr. Miller predeceased his wife on August 31, 2012. Ruth was a strong Air Force wife, who raised her family while her husband served in the military. She created a welcoming home wherever they were stationed, from Georgia to Maine to their longtime home in Wellston, Oklahoma. Ruth had a wide variety of interest including sewing, cooking, canning and reading. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah. For the last eight years, Ruth lived in Leavenworth, Kansas, where she was cared for by her daughter Judith and son-in-law Gregory Beck. There, she was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Ruth was a loving mother and an excellent friend and mentor to her five children: Geri Miller and wife, Maril, of Coolidge, Arizona, Stephen Miller and wife, Kathy, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Karen Hollinsworth and husband, Bob of Mustang, Oklahoma, John Miller and wife, Marie-Therese of Salt Point, New York, Judith Beck and husband, Gregory , of Leavenworth, Kansas. She was the grandmother of seventeen: William Miller, Jennifer King and husband, Austin, Stephen Miller and wife, Rebekah, Brenda Miller, Kathryn Smith and husband, Drake, Stephanie Miller, Crystal Miller, John Coppock and wife, Hillary, April Coppock, Tara Jimenez and husband, Craig, Michelle Miller, Meghan Miller, John Vincent Miller, Erin Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Lisa Burris and husband, Joe and Warren Beck. She was the great-grandmother of Jacob Miller, Kayden Miller, and Ashlyn Miller. A recitation of the Rosary and a wake will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah, OK. A funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah, OK, with Father Prakash Madineni officiating. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
