Ruby Dean Smith

Ruby Dean Smith, age 85, of Harrah, OK, was born July 14, 1931, in Locust Grove, OK. She was the daughter of Fred Hobart West, Sr. & Edna Amanda (Pitchford) West. She left this life on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, in Oklahoma City, OK. Ruby graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, OK, then took some college courses at UCO in Edmond. She married Carl Leon Smith on June 27, 1949, in Bristow, OK. They moved to Harrah in 1970. Ruby was a homemaker and loved children. She was very good at teaching children without them knowing they were being taught. A lot of her nieces and nephews stayed with her thru the years. Ruby loved her grandchildren very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Fred, Jr., Johnny, Kenneth & Buddy West, 2 sisters, Freda Stone and Mildred Paden. Survivors include her husband, Carl Smith, Harrah, OK; daughter & son-in-law, Melissa Smith & Ed Kirby, Orlando, Florida; 2 brothers, Ronald West, Boswell, OK, Billy West, Oklahoma City, OK; 2 granddaughters, Merissa & Charlie Sarlo, Palm Bay, Florida, Rachel Horn, Palm Bay, Florida; special nephew, Donnie Paden, numerous other nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, OK. Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
