Meeker resident Ruby A. Batchelor, 97, died February 2nd in Meeker. Ruby was the youngest of five daughters of Dr. Owen and Mary Sutton. She was born in Prague on October 31, 1909. Most of her childhood was spent in Milfay. After graduation from Milfay High School, she attended and graduated from Hills Business College, Oklahoma City. Hers was a long business career beginning in 1928 and ending in 1984. After retirement in 1972, she served as Treasurer for the Town of Meeker for eleven years. She was married on December 24, 1929, to James Wallace Batchelor in Milfay. Her husband preceded her in death October 25, 1983. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Mary Evelyn, her parents and four sisters. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jerry Gaines of Sparks; granddaughter Terri Branson and husband David, grandson Allen Gaines and wife, Shelly; three great- grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Madison Gaines. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church, Meeker. She continued to live in her home in Meeker until the end. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 5th at 2:00pm at the Stroud Cemetery with Rev. Joe Jones, officiating.
