Rosellen Halbert, age 86, of McLoud, OK, was born on May, 17, 1926, in Chillicothe, Texas. She was the daughter of J. E. & Rosa Lee (Tulley) Baker. She left this life on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, in Shawnee, OK. Rosellen graduated from Wapanucka High school in 1943 were she was co- valedictorian, she then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. At the end of World War II she met Ward Halbert, they were married in 1946 and they moved to McLoud in 1956. Rosellen was a volunteer at the Pottawatomie County Fair for 35 years and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in McLoud for decades. She enjoyed needle crafts and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ward, six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by 1 son & daughter-in-law, George & Cindy Halbert of Shawnee, OK; 2 daughters & son-in-law, Winellen & Mel Wilkins of Newalla, OK, Eileen Vaughan of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 brother, J. N. Baker of McKinley, TX; 2 grandchildren and spouses, Kimberly & Chris Lockaby, Okla. City, OK, Janette & Robert Byrd, Fayetteville, AR and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Newalla, Newalla, OK, with Dr. Paul Brady & Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
