Rose Mary Johnson

Rose Johnson was born on July 8, 1949 in Schulter, OK and departed this life on October 24, 2020 in Stroud, OK at the age of 71 years. Rosie was the daughter of Thomas and Della (Langendorf) Kitchens. Her father was a copper miner and had moved their family to Arizona for work. She was raised and attended school at Miami High School in Miami, AZ. She always told stories about growing up and working with her mother and sisters in a resort lodge near Roosevelt Lake. In her younger years, Rose and Johnny Weatherly married and had three children: Liz, Shawnda and Nick. As a military wife she and her children lived in many places including California, Georgia, and Virginia. She worked many jobs but the most interesting was in the shipyards in Norfolk, VA doing pressure testing and welding on the USS Eisenhower, which is still in commission today. Later Rose moved her family to Oklahoma and married again to Larry Gunter. They had three children: Mandy, Wiley, and Jennifer. She worked nearly 20 years in management for Kens/Mazzio’s Pizza in several cities throughout Oklahoma and started her own family run bakery in Edmond. On May 22, 1999 Charlie Johnson and Rose were married in Agra, OK and started a new life together in their home north of Stroud lake. They shared 22 years, raised five of their children and grandson Wiley J together. Charlie and Rose enjoyed being together, being grandparents, going to dinner, on drives, road trips, casinos, and mostly at home… harassing each other. Rose was a hard-working woman who diligently bestowed that upon her children. She had a fun personality and loved to joke around. She enjoyed going on road trips, theme parks, playing board games and cards, swimming, camping, fishing, holidays, baking, cooking, and family get-togethers. She looked forward to spending time with her kids but really loved watching her grandkids grow and play. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Lorretta Kitchens. She leaves behind her husband Charlie Johnson and grandson Wiley J Gunter of the home. Her children; Elizabeth Gordon, Shawnda Jameson, John Nicholas Weatherly, Amanda Gunter, Wiley Gunter and wife LaRay, and Jennifer Gunter. Her stepchildren; DeAnna Cotton and husband J,Paul, Stacey Johnson, and Clint Johnson. Her grandchildren; Jessica, Jamie, Jordan, Courtney, Brandon, Allie, Lacy, Mason, Aiden, Seth, Jake, Tyler, Taylor, Summer, Bailee, Camron, Zeb, Lexi, and Blake. Her great grandchildren, Hayden, Vivian, Howie, baby Charlee and baby Johnnie. Her Siblings; Stanley Kitchens and wife Jeanette, Joann Jones and husband Ellison. Mother-in-law, Betty Thompson, Nephews, Nieces, other family members, her loving puppy Suzie Q and crazy cat Crouton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 1, 2020 on the Eastside of Stroud Lake. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net.
