Ronald E. ' Ron ' Burden age 72, left this life on December 14, 2017. in Stroud, Ok. He was born December 22, 1944 to Elvin Andrew Burden and Georgia Lou (Campbell) Burden in Tulsa, Ok. Ron grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1963, and attended Tulsa University. He married Sharon Frisbie on February 20, 1965. Ron enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in 1966 and served until 1972 when he was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ron and Sharon moved to Davenport, Ok. in 1971. He went to work for Security State Bank of Davenport as Vice-President, working there till it closed in 1987. With support and encouragement from the community, Ron, Sharon and other community leaders established Central Oklahoma Federal Credit Union of Davenport chartered in 1988. Later he opened Marketplace Insurance Agency in Davenport, retiring in 2014. Ron was a Charter member of Oklahoma Route 66 organization, serving as State President for 4 years. He was a member and past President of Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club in Davenport. He was a proud supporter of the Davenport pee wee football, little league and will be remembered by many as the voice of the local fair, parades and sporting events. Ron was on the Fair Board for many years, a Boy Scout leader on the local, district and council levels, and on the New Zion Cemetery board. He was an elder and Treasurer of the Presbyterian Church of Davenport, One of his most satisfying endeavors was being a member of the Davenport Fire Department for 30 years and serving as Fire Chief for 23 and a half years and was an EMT, He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home, one son Todd Burden and wife Leisha of Mannford, OK., Jennifer Conway of Edmond, OK., one brother Richard Burden and wife Karen of Midland, TX., five grandchildren Kara Hocker and husband Tyler of Cibolo, Tx., Kelsey Burden of Stillwater, OK, Kaitlyn Burden of Midwest City, OK., Jayden Conway of Edmond, Ok. and Riley Conway of Edmond, Ok. Ron is preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn Coxen. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Davenport First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday December 18, 2017 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler with interment to follow at New Zion Cemetery
