Roberto Julio Simmons

Roberto was born on October 23, 1940, in Guatemala, Central America, and departed this life on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 64. Roberto was the son of Robert Nelson and Julia M. Galiano Simmons. He graduated from the San Marcos Military Academy and then entered the United States Air Force in 1963. He retired from the Air Force in 1985, after over twenty years of service. He also worked for Reeves Dental Supply of Oklahoma City. He married Alba Martinez on February 12, 1966, in Los Angeles, CA. Roberto was the Mayor of McLoud from 1989 to 1991, a member of the Noncommissioned Officers Association and a beloved soccer coach. He enjoyed golf, photography and loved all sports. Roberto helped the youth in the community and was a caregiver to many. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Alba Simmons, McLoud, OK; 2 sons & 1 daughter-in-law, Stewart & Elizabeth Simmons, Memphis, TN, Richard Byron Simmons, McLoud, OK; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Yulie & Andres Simmons-Castro, Grand Prairie, TX, Maggie & Waldemar Simmons-Gutierrez, Grand Prairie, TX; 1 brother,James Marcus Simmons, Guatemala; 1 sister:, Margaret Ann Castillo, Guatemala; 12 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A Wake service will be held 7:00 PM, Sunday, May 8, 2005, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, McLoud, OK. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, May 9, 2005, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, McLoud, OK, with Father Patrick McCool officiating. Interment will be 2:00 PM, Monday, May 9, 2005, at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
