Robert Lee Listen

Robert Lee 'Cowboy Bob' Listen, age 84, of Jones, OK, was born on April 22, 1932, in Jones, OK. He was the son of Herbert Bismark & Zetta Ione (Barnes) Listen. He left this life on Monday, December 5, 2016, in Norman, OK. Bob graduated from Jones High School in 1950. He was a farmer, rancher, real estate agent and Thoroughbred race horse trainer. He was the president of the Poland-China Swine Association, president of the Jones School Board, a member of the Oklahoma County Fair Board, Sirloin Club, Spotted Poland-China Swine Association, AMPI (American Milk Producers Incorporated) the Thoroughbred Racing Association of Oklahoma and 1972 Oklahoma Farm Bureau's farm family of the year. Bob loved life and he lived it to the fullest... every minute of it. He loved farming, pigs, horses, cattle and training race horses. You weren't around him very long until you saw that he loved practical jokes. If you stayed around long enough, he would beat you at cards or any domino game that you wanted to play, especially chickenfoot. He was a champion of the people and was always in your corner if you were the underdog. He wanted to make sure he made injustices right and he would fight for the truth. He lived his life with honesty and integrity, but most of all, he loved his family. He has left a void in our little world that can't be filled but we know that he is in a far better place now. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles & Wilfred, sister-in-law, Elsie and brother-in-law, Cecil Millican. Survivors include his life partner, Jeanie Dean, Jones, OK; 4 sons & daughters-in-law, Bart Listen, Purcell, OK, Jackie & Paula Listen, Noble, OK, Bobby & Alecia Listen, El Reno, OK, Charlie Blue, Farmersville, TX ; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Janice & Roy Chambers, Brownsboro, TX, Melody & John Estabrook Sherman, TX; 2 sisters, Marjorie Millican, Jones, OK, Marilyn & Gene Lassiter, Jones, OK; 5 grandchildren, Chelsea & Josh DeBord, Jed Listen, Collin Listen, Kaylin Listen, Madison Cullum and many other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 8th at Smith-Parks Funeral Service, 2039 N. Tim Holt Dr., Harrah, OK.
