Robert L. Martin

April 20, 1938 — August 8, 2022

Robert Leon Martin, a lifelong resident of Prague, departed this life on August 8, 2022 in Shawnee, at the age of 84. Robert was born and raised in Prague, Oklahoma. He attended Prague Public Schools, and was a proud 1955 graduate of Prague High School. Robert met Wanette Walden at a rodeo and after three years of courtship they married December 27, 1958. They were married for almost 61 years, setting an example of selfless love and dedication to each other. Wanette preceded Robert in death on July 7, 2020. Prior to her death, Robert displayed his deep love for her by patiently and kindly caring for her as she battled Alzheimer's . Robert worked for many years in sales and was recognized by his company numerous times for being top salesman. He began his training in sales as a young man working the cash register and delivering groceries in his family’s grocery store and refined them helping out in their variety store. His primary job as an adult was a traveling salesman for nuts, bolts and shop supplies. Robert's top priority and true passion was loving his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He spent endless hours driving to and attending sporting events, livestock shows and other school activities. He was an active FFA alumni and parent serving as a chaperone for trips and shows and helping in any way he could. Robert was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Prague. He was well known in his community, church, and family as the person to reach out to when in need. He was one phone call away from driving across the country or state to be at your side supporting you through life’s challenges. He lived out his faith by looking for ways to love and serve others each and every day. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marie Martin, his loving wife, Wanette Martin; his granddaughter, Jerra Hollingshead; his great-grandson, Jackson Hollingshead; one sister, Doris Mullins and two brothers, Dale Martin and Doyle Martin. He is survived by three children, Keith Martin and his wife, Shelli, Gayle Morland and her husband, Mike, and Janet Blocker and her husband, Curtis; eight grandchildren, Dusty Thennes and his wife, April, Brooke Hopper and her husband, Andy, Jennifer Ramirez and her husband, Jose, Jessica Garcia, Cole Morland, Chad Blocker and his wife, Jennifer, Todd Blocker and his wife, Mandy and Lance Blocker and his wife, Cayla and fourteen great-grandchildren, Daegan Thennes, Javion Noble, Madilyn Hopper, Kamden Ramirez, Mila Ramirez, JJ Ramirez, Madison Blocker, Allison Blocker, Emerson Blocker, Britt Blocker, Blair Blocker, Natalie Blocker, Hattie Mae Blocker, and Clair Blocker.
