Richard Wayne Plute was born on October 13, 1943 in Coffeyville, KS. He departed this life on September 13, 2021 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 77. Richard was the son of Frank Plute and Anna Jane (Provorse) Plute. Richard served four years in the United States Air Force as an Electronic Communications and Cryptographic Equipment Systems Repairman and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was discharged in 1968 and returned to work with his parents and his brother, Ken, in various enterprises. Family was always of utmost importance to Richard, so he put his all into this endeavor, sometimes working without pay, in order to build a better future for himself and those he loved. This same attitude was present in Richard’s service for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Richard worked tirelessly in his church and community to further the Kingdom of Christ. He served as a deacon at Liberty Church, where he was a member for 25 years, and was a founding board member of the Stroud Food Pantry. He was always ready to give of his time and treasure to help feed the hungry and share the Gospel. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Jane Plute and a sister-in-law, LaVonne Plute. He is survived by three brothers: Donnie Plute and wife Linda of Coffeyville, KS; Eddie Plute and wife Bonnie of Sand Springs, OK; and Ken Plute of Stroud, OK; nephews Chris Gillespie and wife Ginny of Edmond, OK; Rusty Gillespie and wife Brenda of McLoud, OK; Ron Gillespie and wife Ralene of Stroud, OK; and Tim Gillespie of Stroud, OK; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Stroud Food Pantry. Donations may be sent to: Stroud Food Pantry, 211 N 3rd Ave. Stroud, OK 74079. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at Liberty Church in Stroud, OK, under direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service and with Rev. Tim Gillespie officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net.
