Richard J. Taber was born in Lincoln County, near Chandler, on April 20, 1919, and departed this life on April 11, 2004, at his home in Prague at the age of 84 years. Richard was the son of Homer Calvin and Frances ?Babe? Ogden Taber. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1937. Richard married Lois Aldridge in Seminole on December 18, 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for many years in the oilfield, including 3 years overseas. Richard returned to Seminole county in 1969 and began ranching and working at Tinker Field. He later retired from Tinker and devoted full time to his ranching operation until moving to Prague in 1994. His parents and one brother preceded Richard in death. Survivors include his wife, Lois Taber of the home; son & daughter-in-law,Dick & Dowanna Taber of Prague; 2 grandsons and spouses, Russell and Patricia Taber of Meeker; Michael and Amy Taber of Meeker; 2 sisters & brother-in-law, Patricia June & Howard Williams of Bowlegs, OK, Cleon Huff of Sherman TX; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
